OktoPrep released via Installer, TouchFree jailbreak for iPhone 1.1.2

Oktoprep, a program to unlock the latest iPhone 1.1.2 firmware update, was released today.
UPDATE January 2008. Hey! This article is old! Check out our article on using iNdependence to upgrade to 1.1.2 instead. Independence is an all-in-one tool that covers activation, jailbreaking and unlocking and is a lot easier than Oktoprep.
Those horrible people at Conceited Software have gone about making iPhones useful again. iPhone 1.1.1 users will notice that the Today page in Installer now includes OktoPrep, described by Conceited as ‘Prepare 1.1.1 iPhones for TouchFree jailbreak’. TouchFree is a Windows based app that’s been successfully jailbreaking 1.1.1 iPhones and iPod Touches for some time. Installing the new app gives the message above.
You can’t update to 1.1.2 quite yet While it’s possible to update to 1.1.2 now (by option clicking the restore button and selecting a manually downloaded firmware), the SIM unlocking apps don’t yet work with the new baseband - you’ll want to give it a few hours for that. We also don’t recommend updating until TouchFree themselves confirm this works.
But it looks like when the time comes, TouchFree and Conceited will be ready.

OktoPrep fails to install on my iPhone 1.1.1 (3A109A). The error reads simply: “Main script execution failed”.

Dude…I have so many questions regarding this topic. The first question is…would i be safe bringing one back to Australia via the USA?
Cheers!

Hey if this helps anyone. I found after reading site after site without an answer to the “Main script execution failed “, issue mentioned in #3 that you have to have that OpenSSH program installed in order for the OktoPrep to install. Which means you’ll also have to install another prereq but it will tell you which. OktoPrep gave me no prob after that.

There are some problem in installing OktoPrep in the last AppTap version. If you encountered OktoPrep installation crashed (just go back to home screen without giving the notice), install BSD Subsystem and OpenSSH to run the command manually. Follow this guide: http://pastie.caboo.se/121670

We now have a simple guide to 1.1.2 using iNdependence, a much simpler method than Oktoprep. Check out:
